Oranges, Bread & The French...

Hello All!
I woke up this Sunday morning with a craving for an actual breakfast that didn't consist of cold milk and cookie crisps. So what better way to satisfy my sudden need for an alternative source of complex carbohydrates and sugar than to make....... wait for it..... SUPER INSANELY DELICIOUS ORANGE FRENCH TOAST WITH A STRAWBERRY AND ORANGE SAUCE*!!!!
Yup!
(excuse the hyperness... i'm really into sugar =D)

So for 2 slices of this easy awesomeness you need

  •  1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 slices whole wheat bread (you could use any kind you want really)
  • 2 teaspoons butter/margarine

  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam

What to do

Whisk the egg, milk, sugar, and half the orange juice in a wide shallow dish

In a small saucepan, combine the remaining orange juice and the strawberry jam. keep stirring till the jam liquefies. Continue to let it simmer over low heat until it becomes thick and syrupy. Now, melt 1 tea spoon butter in a non stick skillet over medium heat.

Dip the bread in the egg mixture and turn it to coat both sides.
Cook the slice of bread in the skillet until both sides are golden brown. Follow the same rules for the other slice!

Place the slices on a plate and drizzle some of the orange-strawberry sauce on it.
If you like you can also pour some Hershey's chocolate syrup over the toast along with the orange-strawberry sauce!!

      and......

      Voila!

You can now proceed to have a sugar rush of the healthiest kind. =D

      Bon appetit!
